Listen to each of the audio segments on the second page.Third, using some of the tools that O’Malley outlines, examine your cartoon (based on the first letter of your last name, as listed in the folder above) closely.Fourth, create an original discussion post in which you1) offer a one-paragraph response analyzing the cartoon, using some of the tools O’Malley offers. Discuss the artist’s position on imperialism and what in the cartoon led you to that conclusion.2) In a second paragraph, discuss how supporters of American expansionism rationalized their position. Also discuss what ideological, economic, or other factors of the era encouraged American imperialism. You should identify at least three key ways/reasons supporters rationalized imperialism.Finally, respond to at least two of your peers’ posts that are about cartoons that you did NOT analyze in your original post. In your responses, always try to be substantive. Offer a critique and/or an affirmation that includes specific new evidence from the cartoons or readings. In other words, you should agree or disagree and, with new evidence, perhaps generate further discussion. Criteria: You will be successful in this assignment if you:(a) faithfully interpret the cartoon using tools explained by O’Malley;(b) successfully identify and thoroughly explain at least three key ways/reasons supporters rationalized imperialism;(c) link historical examples of proposed or enacted imperialism explicitly to those reasons and/or the cartoon you analyze; and(d) engage your peers critically by referring to additional and specific evidence from the cartoon and/or textbook.Please complete the assignment by the date indicated on the calendar.
