Similarities Between the 1918 Influenza Pandemic & COVID 19

This video is designed to
complement the course material by providing an opportunity for extended
thinking.  After viewing the video, students are to write a Reflection
Paper  as a means of assessment.  

Directions: 

1. Watch the video about the
Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918-(there are many others on YouTube and PBS if
you need more information)

2.  Write a 2-3 page
Reflection Paper (double-spaced, 12 pt, 1 inch margins). Submit as a separate word document and
clearly label the sections of your response

3. Include three (3) separate,
well- developed sections. 

Write a 3-5 paragraph response for EACH of the following sections):

A.      Summarize the 3 facts
about the 1918 Epidemic that you did not know before. (5 pts)

B.     
Describe three
specific ways you believe society has similarily responded in the same way to
COVID 19 pandemic as society did in 1918 for the Great Influenza (10 pts).

     C.     In terms of pandemics such as COVID 19 when
does public health            become
political? Give at least two examples. 
In your opinion, does this      help
or hinder public health? (5 pts)

4.  To ensure consideration of maximum points
earned, papers should represent quality writing reflective of a 300-level
course and be free of grammatical and spelling errors.
